Game drives inside Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve are the soul of your trip. Tadoba is one of the famous parks in India, known for its high probability of sighting the Royal Bengal Tiger in the wild. The current number of tigress with cubs inside the national park too is high making multiple sightings almost a surety. Tadoba Jungle Camp’s unrivalled location is an added advantage as it is situated in proximity to one of the most popular gates, Moharli.

There are three types of game drives available during the day:
1. Jeep Safari
The guests are seated in a 4x4 gypsy with open rooftops to allow for an enhanced experience. The jeep safari can seat upto 6 individuals including a driver and a park guide.
In an effort to provide employment to the local population, there is a government regulation that safaris are operated by the locals. The in-house naturalist can accompany the guests on prior booking, however they will go as an additional guest themselves and will occupy a seat in the vehicle.
The jeep safari tickets open 120 days in advance.
2. Canter Safari
Incase you are unable to get the jeep safari booked, there is yet another option to go inside the park with Canter Safari. Canter is basically a mini bus with open roof. It has a capacity to seat appx. 18- 22 people which means that you will be sharing this safari with others.
The tickets for the canter safari are available online 15 days in advance.
3. Full Day Safari for Wildlife Photographers
Meant for wildlife photographers and enthusiasts who wish to spend a greater time in the jungles, this safari allows you to be inside the core zone of the park from dawn to dusk. For full day safaris, entry is allowed 15 minutes before the scheduled opening time and 15 minutes after the scheduled closing time.
- Only 3 full day vehicles are allowed in a day so do ensure that you book your safari in advance.
- You need to book a regular jeep safari (morning or evening safari) for the day on which the entry is required. After the booking confirmation, you need to apply for full day safari to the office of the Field Director.
- Maximum number of guests allowed in a vehicle – 3 (three)
- The safari is booked offline through a special permission from the Field Director.
- Since you spend the day inside the park, the lodge packs breakfast, lunch and some snacks in the morning itself.
Things to Know About Jeep Safari at Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve
Timings of Jungle Safaris
- Winters (October to February): Morning Safari: 06:30 am to 10:30 am | Evening Safari: 03:00 pm to 06:00 pm | Night Safari: 7 pm to 10 pm
- Summers (March to June): Morning Safari: 6:00 am to 10:00 am | Evening Safari: 03:30 pm to 06:30 pm | Night Safari: 7 pm to 10 pm

What to Carry:
In order to have a comfortable and memorable safari experience, here are some of the things you may wish to carry:
- Your original id from which you have booked the safari. It it’s absence, you shall not be allowed to enter the park itself.
- Binoculars for watching animals at a distance or the birding.
- Cameras for capturing those special safari moments. There is a minimal entry charge for carrying cameras and video cameras.
- Hat & sunscreen for protection from the sun.
- A scarf or hat to cover your hair and masks to cover your face to avoid the dust.
- Warm jackets along with coverings for your ears during the winters to beat the cold.
- Avoid using strong fragrances or wearing bright colours during the safaris. Dull and neutral coloured clothing is suggested.
- Mobile phones, I pads and other electronics are strictly prohibited inside the park. So do ensure you leave them safely at the lodge itself.
Park Gates:
Safaris for the core zone are conducted through two gates:
- Moharli Gate: situated at a distance of 4 kms from the lodge (appx. 10 minute drive from Tadoba Jungle Camp)
- Khudbanda (Khutwanda): situated at a distance of 22 - 25 kms from the lodge (appx. 30 minute drive from Tadoba Jungle Camp)
For the buffer areas, the safaris are conducted through
- Juona Gate: 5 kms from the lodge
- Agarzari Gate: 7-8 kms from the lodge
- Adegaon Gate: 7-8 kms from the lodge
- Devada Gate: 7-8 kms from the lodge
Booking a Safari in Tadoba:
- Online safari bookings for Tadoba National Park open 120 days in advance. Due to limited number of safari tickets and to avoid any disappointment at a later date, we strongly urge you to book your safari in advance.
- The bookings for canters open 15 days in advance.
- The bookings can be done directly through the government website or you can book it through the lodge.
- We require the following information from you at the time of booking your safari. This is as per the governmental regulations : Name, Age, Date of birth (MM-DD-YY), Father/ Husband’s Name, Gender, Nationality, Passport Number for international tourists and any other government recognised id for Indian nationals (aadhar card, driving license, voter id, passport) Do ensure that the id you have submitted during the safari booking, you carry the original with you during each game drive.
- All safari bookings are subjected to availability and the government rules. Tadoba Jungle Camp will does not take responsibility for ensuring safari confirmation, unless otherwise stated.
- Tatkaal Bookings: There is an option of booking the safaris on Tatkaal for the core zones. These are done through online bookings, three days before the date of entry.
However we strongly advise against relying on it as there is a fixed quota of 10 jeeps only, making it quite difficult to get a ticket.
The reservation team at the lodge does offer assistance in booking tickets through tatkaal services but they are highly subject to availability.
Vehicles:
- Only 4x4 registered safari vehicles or the registered canters are allowed inside the park gates.
- Not more than 6 people are allowed in each vehicle (including children above 7 years of age) Incase the guests want an in-house naturalist to accompany them, the naturalist will go as an additional guest itself.
Children:
- Children of all ages are allowed inside the park but they need to be accompanied by responsible guardians.
- Children above 7 years of age too need tickets for entry inside the park.
- For children under 7 years of age, please carry a proof of their age.
Holidays:
- Weekly Holidays: the core areas remains closed on Tuesdays and the buffer areas remain closed on Wednesday for the whole day.
- Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve also remains closed for tourists for a day on some of the major holidays like Diwali, Republic Day and Holi.
- The core zones of the park also remains closed in the months of July, August and September due to monsoons and it allows the park to regenerate without any tourists. The buffer areas however are open throughout the year.
Cameras:
- Cameras are allowed inside the Tadoba National Park on a chargeable basis.
- We strongly advise you not to use flash while photographing wild animals as it disturbs them.
Some other things to note:
- Smoking or alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited inside the park.
- Mobile phones, tablets and other electronics items are strictly prohibited inside the park.
- No edibles are allowed during your safari. There are designated spots approved by the park authorities where we stop for a delicious picnic style breakfast during the morning drives.
- Please do not get out of the jeep at any point of time.
Cancellation Policy:
- We regret to inform that we charge 100% cancellation fees on cancelled safaris because safaris once booked cannot be modified and that ticket goes for a waste.
- Refunds for jungle safaris are offered as credit notes. They are allowed only due to sudden extreme changes in the weather and are at the discretion of the lodge management.
